Activating the Geneious license on the UFS HPC

On first launch, Geneious asks the user to provide and activate a license to be able to use the software. The UFS HPC has a floating license for Geneious which can be activated by linking the program to the license server.

Follow these steps to activate your Geneious license on the UFS HPC:

1. Launch the Geneious Prime application (Either in a qVNC session or on your personal machine).

2. Geneious should display a prompt for the user which contains the "Activate License" button. Click on this button.
   
   
   
   

3. On the next screen select and fill in the following details:

   • Enter your university email address in the text box provided
   • Select the License Server radio button and:
     • Enter geneious.hpc.ufs.ac.za in the License server: text box
     • Enter 27001 in the Port: text box
       
       

4. Click the OK button. A dialog should now appear, informing the user that a license have been obtained from the FLEXnet server. Click the OK



5. If successful, the user should be returned to the main application window. The application is now ready for use. If not, please contact the UFS HPC staff at hpc@ufs.ac.za
